All facilities (including gaming venues) at Paradise City Casino Resort (pictured) near Incheon International Airport were closed "temporarily" from Tuesday to Thursday (Sept. 3) after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the resort's online notice, the foreign-only casino in Paradise City will resume operations at 6 a.m. on Thursday, while the rest of the accommodation will resume at 1 p.m.

Paradise City started in 2017 with a hotel as well as a foreigner-only casino. The complex has since gradually added non-game facilities. It is a venture between Paradise, the Korean operator of foreigner-only casinos, and Sega Sammy Holdings, Inc., a Japanese entertainment giant.

In a notice on Tuesday, the resort's publicist confirmed that an employee at one of the property's restaurants had tested positive for COVID-19. It also added that all employees at the affected locations had complied with the South Korean authorities' precautionary guidelines and wore face masks.

Paradise City has nonetheless decided to "temporarily close" all facilities in the resort and implement emergency disinfection measures to prevent the spread of further infections, according to the notice.

Paradise City said, "We will cooperate closely with the relevant authorities during the closure period to thoroughly disinfect all property, including the business site," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that customers return with confidence."

A spokesperson for Paradise told GGRAsia last week that the South Korean government has not asked foreign-only casino operators to shut down their gaming sites amid a recent surge in COVID-19 infections.

Kangwon Land's promoter, the only casino resort in the country where domestic gambling is allowed, has recently temporarily closed its casinos once again, citing the country's shift to a two-tier protocol to contain the virus due to COVID-19 amid a rise in cases across the country.
